W

hat a beautiful day it was leaving Scituate at 0500 hours.
The sun was just coming up and we were prepared for a sunny day of sailing.
But this is a story that needs to start at the end of the day to get the full picture
of yesterday's adventure.
Welcome to Marion!

We landed in Marion around noon on Saturday. Temperature was in the 90s and the water temp is 85...much warmer than the 66 we left in Marblehead. We were fortunate the weather cooperated again. Then came time for the cocktail party. We had about 40 people standin by the docks enjoying yummy appetizers and beverages. Here's where the adventure began. Cam was heading back to our dinghy on the dock and his foot went between two d

ocks. A 3" nail was sticking out and managed to plunge itself into Cam's leg. Ouch! Fortunately we have two doctors and a nurse on the cruise so he was well taken care of from the moment of injury. So that's how we ended in the emergency room at Tobey Hospital in Marion. An ambulance ride, complete with sirens and a teddy bear gift from the EMTs to Cam actually made it somewhat fun for him. What a trooper. Three hours later, or roughly 11:30 PM, we made it back to the boat and all crashed for the night.
Cam wants to push on to Edgartown so that's what we're doing. He's determined to collect a souvenir from every port. We have the rusty nail from Marion to start!
Sailing on!
